What is Lumino Health Virtual Care?
Lumino Health Virtual Care gives you access to healthcare professionals via mobile or web app. You will be able to chat with a nurse for any questions related to your health or consult a doctor via a secure video if a diagnosis or prescription is required, completely free of charge. You can also consult other health professionals (e.g. nutritionists) for an additional fee that may be covered by insurance.
About 70% of typical walk-in clinic cases can be addressed via Lumino Health Virtual Care!
Here are some examples of how to use this service:
- Prescriptions and renewals
- Request blood work or a referral to a specialist
- Consult for minor conditions (allergies, UTI, infections, etc.)
- Ask questions related to your children’s health
- Consult the medical team for any questions related to stress, insomnia, depression and anxiety
- Obtain guidance to the appropriate health-care system resources when an in-person consultation is needed
When and where can I use the service?
If you are physically located in Canada, you can use Lumino Health Virtual Care. The service is available 24/7, but the medical scope of practice will exclude some services outside of regular hours (for example, you won’t be able to refill a prescription at 2:00 a.m.).
The regular hours of the Lumino Health Virtual Care clinic in all Canadian time zones, local time, are:
- Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
How to register?
- Download the app from Google Play or the App Store on your smartphone. You can also register online on your desktop at luminovc.dialogue.co (if signing up on your desktop, any browser except Internet Explorer will work)
- Click on ‘Create your Account’
- Enter your Name, Date of Birth, and relevant information. Ensure your personal information entered matches that on your Sun Life Account. Please use a personal and not an SLB email address to setup your account
- Choose a strong unique password. Your password should have at least 8 characters and 3 of the following 4 types of characters: a lower-case letter, an upper-case letter, a number and a special character (such as !@#$%^&*)
- Click ‘Sign Up’
- You will receive a verification email; please click the link in the email to verify your email
- Carefully read and consent to Dialogue’s terms of use and privacy policy
- Follow the instructions to finish creating your account
- Complete your profile and invite your spouse/partner and children under “Profile” > “Family”
How does Lumino Virtual Health Care ensure patient privacy and confidentiality?
It’s your data!
- Your personal health data belongs to you. While Lumino Health Virtual Care will communicate basic information (with your consent) for lab tests and prescriptions, only you have the power to request that your personal file be shared outside of Lumino Health Virtual Care with non-Lumino Health Care Team Members.

Restricted Access
- Lumino Health Virtual Care operates a strict need-to-know policy. Only Lumino Health Care Team members directly involved in delivering your care are permitted to consult your file. Access to the Care Team is also tightly controlled.
Holding People Accountable
- The Lumino Health Virtual Care Team practices safe medicine and is required to adhere to strict guidelines. Every member is regularly reviewed by Dialogue’s internal Clinical Quality Auditor to ensure best in-class quality of care.
